Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre's Pyramid Players have extended the run for their first Live Theatre for Kids production of 2015: a stage adaptation of the beloved children's story, Charlotte's Web.
Based on the classic tale by E.B. White, Charlotte's Web tells the story of Wilbur, a young pig who wants to live a long life. But his animal friends on the Zuckerman farm know this won't happen without their help. A plan is enacted by an extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who is determined to save Wilbur's life. Proving to not only be a true friend, but also a good writer, Charlotte weaves words into her web above Wilbur's pen that declare him to be "some pig."
Thus begins her campaign to promote the qualities of her pig friend and draw enough attention to him that he's entered into the county fair for a chance at the blue ribbon that just might save his life. Wilbur learns a great deal from the wise spider, even after they return home from the fair.
John Vessels plays Wilbur, with Sally Scharbrough as Charlotte, Kennedy Martin as Fern, A.J. Morrison as Templeton, Ethan Litt as Homer and the Sheep, and Ian Frazier as the Narrator and Gander. The show is direced by Elizabeth Stark Payne, with musical direction by Kristy Templet and choreography by Deb Wims.
The run for Charlotte's Web has now been extended, with two performances added on March 28. Pyramid Players productions are one hour in length and presented without intermission. Performances are for all ages, but offered particularly for children in preschool through fifth grade. Children have the opportunity to meet the cast after each show for pictures and autographs.
Performances take place at 10 a.m. on most Fridays and at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on most Saturdays. All tickets are $15.50 and include a snack. For reservations, contact the box office at 317.872.9664. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays.
