Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre will present a fun and flirty new show as the perfect antidote to the post-holiday blues. Making its Indianapolis debut Dec. 28, Jack Milo’s Baggy Pants Burlesque takes the stage for just 10 tantalizing performances before the 2012 Season kicks off in January.
Starring Beef & Boards funnymen Doug Stark and Jeff Stockberger, together with Milo himself, Baggy Pants Burlesque takes audiences back to the best of playful Vaudeville entertainment.
“People should expect to laugh their butts off. They should expect old-time burlesque.” Milo said of his show. “Burlesque became an offshoot of Vaudeville, and they decided to go a little more racy with it. People have expectations of a strip show, and it isn’t that. It’s basically comedy sketches and musical numbers. There’s a lot of double entendres and off-color jokes. It’s all innuendo.”
He describes Baggy Pants Burlesque as “fun, fast and furious.”
Beef & Boards has done several burlesque-type shows in its history, Milo pointed out, recalling his performance with Stark in Sugar Babies in 1992. “It’s a variation of what Sugar Babies was,” he remarked.
This type of entertainment, with “more tease than sleaze,” is sure to have plenty of fans, Milo added – and he doesn’t just mean the kind made out of feathers! The show will appeal to multiple generations. “For the older group, they will remember burlesque. For the younger group, they will appreciate the pre-Saturday Night Live, Daily Show stuff.
“It's definitely a type of show that is gone today, alongside Vaudeville or the radio drama,” Milo added. “It's just pure entertainment. You don't have to figure out the plot, because there isn't one.”
Stark joined Milo when the new show made its debut this spring in Illinois. “I’m kind of looking forward to the idea that it’s an entirely different cast with the exception of Doug and I. It will be fun,” Milo said.
