Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre Opens 45th Anniversary Season with GREATER TUNA Image

One town. Two actors. Nearly 20 characters. It all adds up to the hilarious 45th Season opener at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Opening Dec. 28 and on stage through Jan. 28, Greater Tuna kicks off the 2018 Season with lots of fun from this fictional town.

It starts as a typical day in Tuna, the third-smallest town in Texas, with Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie at the microphones of Radio OKKK, broadcasting at a big 275 watts (when they remember to turn the transmitter on). The winning entry in the American Heritage Essay Contest is the big story of the day. Then Didi Snavely, of Didi's Used Guns, arrives, followed by weatherman Harold Dean Lattimer, who warns of an incoming swarm of locusts, but is doubtful they'll ever make it as far as Tuna. And the comedy continues, from Petey Fisk of the Humane Society talking about the duck problem, to Phineas Blye, perpetual losing candidate for city council announcing he's running again and revealing his new platform. Coach Raymond Chassie provides the daily high school football report, which includes his insightful take on why his football team lost 48-0.

Tuna's eclectic citizens continue to take the stage in all their outrageous and irreverent glory, commenting on life, politics, and what makes them tick. And all of them are played by just two actors - Beef & Boards own favorite funnymen: Eddie Curry and Jeff Stockberger. It's a show Variety called "howlingly funny," and the Washington Post touted as "hilarious, a tribute to the art of acting."

A special performance to ring in the New Year on Dec. 31 is sold out.

Greater Tuna is on stage for 31 performances in the intimate atmosphere of Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Tickets range from $44 to $69, and include Chef Odell Ward's dinner buffet, fruit & salad bar, unlimited coffee, tea and lemonade.

For reservations, call the box office at 317.872.9664 anytime between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays. For complete show schedule, visit beefandboards.com.
