Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre cooks up some laughs with a new comedy this summer! Church Basement Ladies, the show that celebrates the church basement kitchen and the women who work there, makes its debut at Beef & Boards for an extended run July 22 through Sept. 3.

Hilarity takes over when the four Church Basement Ladies do their best to organize food, stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, keep the pastor on due course and try to solve the problems of their changing rural Minnesota church in 1964.

Based on the Scandinavian Lutheran humor writings of Janet Martin and Suzann Nelson, authors of "Growing Up Lutheran," the women of Church Basement Ladies are familiar and down-to-earth characters who can be found in any denomination. Together they tackle both food and food for thought while managing a record breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a HawaiIan Easter fundraiser and a hot July wedding. Still cookin' from the show's national tour are Karen Pappas as Mavis, Katie Proctor as Karin and Lisa Bark as the young bride-to-be, Signe. Licia Watson also stars as Vivian, the matriarch of the kitchen, with Eddie Curry as Pastor E.L. Gunderson.

There are 53 performances of Church Basement Ladies scheduled in the intimate space of Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Tickets range from $35 to $58, and include Chef Odell Ward's specially prepared buffet, with a fruit & salad bar, unlimited coffee, tea and lemonade. Parking is free.

For reservations, call the Beef & Boards Box Office at 317.872.9664. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays. Church Basement Ladies is sponsored in part by Indianapolis Woman. For complete show schedule, visit www.beefandboards.com.
