Over 20 different cabaret performances from 10 performers will be presented as part of A Festival of Cabaret, Indy's first five-night festival featuring artists from the international and New York cabaret scene. The festival takes place Monday, September 13th through Friday, September 17th.
Performances represent both classic and contemporary cabaret, spanning the music of Jazz, the Great American Songbook, the European Songbook, Broadway and Pop. Audiences will be able to take in a different line-up each night--with up to ten extraordinary performers each presenting audiences with a "mini-show" every half hour.
"This festival is like cabaret 'speed-dating,‘" says Kristopher McDowell, Manager & Producer for KMP Artists. The Cabaret is pleased that KMP will present in their space as a part of the Midwest Arts Conference, which will be held in Indianapolis the same week. "Our goal is to bring different styles of world-class cabaret performances to Indianapolis. Since cabaret venues are typically only found in larger metropolitan markets like New York City," says Shannon Forsell, Managing and Producing Director of The Cabaret, "this is a wonderful opportunity for cabaret lovers and those not yet familiar with cabaret to experience different styles of cabaret all within one evening."
Monday will kick off with Chicago cabaret artists Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael; Karen Mason (Star of Broadway's Mamma Mia and Sunset Boulevard); Steve Ross (The Crown Prince of New York Cabaret); and Gregg Edelman (Four-time Tony® Award Nominee and Broadway star of Wonderful Town, Cabaret and Les Miserables.)
Tuesday evening performances include Sally Mayes (Tony® Award nominee and Star of Broadway's She Loves Me and Urban Cowboy); Entertaining Guests with Spider Saloff; The Cabaret Project; and Steven Brinberg ‘s Simply Barbra.
On Wednesday evening performances include; Phillip Fortenberry (Accomplished pianist, recording artist and Broadway musical director), Karen Kohler and The Cabaret Project.
Admission for events Monday through Wednesday, September 13, 14, 15, is free, but audience members must RSVP to KMP Aritsts at xx-xx-xxx or Kristopher@kmpartists.com with their selected dates. Festivities begin at 9:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evening and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
