UTSAV of DELHI presents its annual mega exhibition of SAREES, FABRICS and DUPATTAS at the Aga Khan Hall, 6 Bhagwan Das Road, New Delhi-110001. The show will open on Monday, 24 July, and continue until Thursday, 27 July. Daily, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Curated by Shashiv Chandran, the exhibition titled Grand Saree Tradition alludes to the present contemporary moment where GST is on the top of everyone's mind!
But to the creative community, it can have different connotations, says Shashiv Chandran, who leads UTSAV, and has been working with heritage woven handloom textile traditions for almost twenty five years, providing design direction to weavers and printers.
UTSAV's endeavour has been two-fold - to nurture and sustain India's heritage handloom wealth and to simultaneously re-energize the craftsmen with aesthetic contemporary design and colour sensibilities. UTSAV promotes Indian handlooms thereby ensuring their survival, continuity and celebration.
