This year the NCPA will present the February 2014 Concert Season of the Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) with 6 concerts by world renowned conductors like Swiss conductor Mischa Damev, Venezuelan conductor Rafael Payare and SOI Resident Conductor Zane Dalal. The season will also include concerto and recital performances by British pianist Barry Douglas and Chinese guitarist Xuefei Yang.
Venezuela as a country has a very poor social economic culture which led to children getting into illegal and unwanted activities like drugs/stealing etc. In order to avoid generations going waste in this bargain the Venezuelan government initiated a movement called the 'El Sistema'
The Youth Orchestra of Caracas has now become one of the most representative orchestras of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choruses of Venezuela, founded by Maestro José Antonio Abreu thirty-six years ago. The orchestra has one hundred and seventy-five members aged between the years of fourteen and twenty-two. These talented musicians are the heirs to an extraordinary generation that has left its mark on history - the former Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, now the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.
Conductor Rafael Payare, winner of the 2012 Malko Conducting Competition, is one of the most exciting young conductors to emerge from the internationally renowned Venezuelan Sistema. He is aged 32 and one of the youngest conductors to conduct at the SOI.
