Photo Flash: CLUB DESIRE Opens at NCPA in Mumbai

The premiere of National Center for the Performing Arts, NCPA's much awaited 4th production "Club Desire" was a star studded evening attended by the who's who of city like Shobhaa De, Nandita Das, Govind Nihalani, Sanjana Kapoor, Namit Das, Shruti Vyas, Jehan Manekshaw, Utkarsh Majumdar and many more who were part of the audience at NCPA's Tata Theatre on 24th October. The inspiration for Sunil Shanbag's Club Desire, was the French opera, Carmen, by Georges Bizet. The story placed in the contemporary setting of Mumbai's nightclub scene, raised universal questions about the nature of love, tradition, modernity, freedom, possession, order and anarchy. Stunning performances by the lead actors Manasi Parekh, Amir Bashir, Faisal Rashid and Gagan Riar enthralled one and all.

Deepa Gahlot Head Programming Theatre and Films at the NCPA, said, "It's a proud moment for all of us to get a standing ovation at the end of the play. Club Desire has already received invitations from different cities to perform. We are glad that the play has been appreciated by audiences in Mumbai and we will continue our endeavors to produce more such plays on a regular basis".

The first three NCPA productions, Aalbel, Papa and Tuesday's with Morrie are still running at different venues in Mumbai as well as in other cities. Next show of Club Desire is on 25th, 26th and 27th October at the NCPA.
