NCPA presents Pratibimb Marathi Natya Utsav, reflecting the best of contemporary Marathi theatre. Connoisseurs would remember landmark productions from NCPA like Zulwa, Atmakatha and Ek Zunj Varyashi. With Pratibimb we hope to inspire young Marathi theatre professionals to host productions of that calibre at the NCPA. Pratibimb will initiate a monthly programme of Marathi plays and regular drama festivals. For more information, visit www.ncpamumbai.com.

Ekmekaat (120 mins)
Monday, August 9th - 6.30 pm

This is a story of a girl who is restless and angry with the world. She finds it difficult to mould herself according to the conventional social frame of mind. Her pessimistic romanticism reflects in her personal life shattering her most important relationship. Her beau wants stability, ease and so-called peace of mind. But what is really the recipe to a steady, successful and secure life? While they both seek answers from the world they live in, it seems that this very quest serves to link them even after their break up.

Aanandbhog Mall (90 mins)
Tuesday, August 10th - 6.30 pm

The play is a story of a couple living in a small Indian city. It creatively reflects the complex relationship between two characters in their early thirties. The personal memories of the characters and the history of their local spaces, their bed time intimacies and foul languages are woven into the power politics of caste and gender and the fetish for ‘progress' modeled on desirous market aspirations. This creates a magical interplay of disconcerted characters' realities in this ‘global' world.

Mahapoor (120 mins)
Wednesday, August 11th - 6.30 pm

Mahapoor is about the youth - Govind Raghunath Kawthekar. The story unfolds the secrets of his shattered life: his ambitions, passions, loves and realization of the absurdity of life. Govind is torn between his upbringing and his philosophical studies- creating a conflict of generations. His love for Sulabha - his childhood friend - and his hatred for his parents provoke him to think wild. Feelings of love and desire rule his mind, compelling him to live in his own world: his virtual reality; leading to Mahapoor.
