In a first of sorts for Indian theatre, an exciting new play will be run for over a month at the NCPA in Mumbai.
The play is an ambitious project titled The Father, with veterans such as Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah playing the lead.
The Father was originally written in French by Florian Zeller and is translated by Christopher Hampton. The play charts a sensitive storyline where family relationships and the toll mental dysfunctions takes on the sufferer and the carer are shown with cathartic finesse.
The play is also significant as it will be the first time in Indian theatre that a single show will have such a long running.
The Father, in this translation by Christopher Hampton was commissioned by Utsinov Studio, Theatre Royal Bath and was first presented in October 2014.
Naseeruddin Shah also don the director's hat for the play that is all set to be showcased next month.
