BWW Previews: ANSH DARSHAK FESTIVAL in Mumbai

A unique festival showcasing six different genres of performances will be taking place in Mumbai. Ansh Darshak festival that commences at the famous Prithvi Theatre from July 25 will have on viewing both full length as well as short plays. A treat for theatre lovers, the festival has picked some of the most relevant to the current times shows for the audiences.

The shows selected for the festival are as follows

1. Patni - 25th July - 8 pm

A collaboration between two mavericks - Theatre & Music

Makarand Deshpande & Niladri Kumar (Sitar & Zitar)

1. Shakespeare Cha Mahatara - 26th July - 8 pm

Shakespeare's king lear is haunting the world for 400 years, the battle between

the father & the king within him is lost. It is the curse of his own decision that

exists even now. A totally new exciting take on King Lear, full of drama- melodrama, tragedy-farce, poetry-prose.

1. Miss Beautiful - 27th July - 6 & 9 PM

Shirish a theatre writer - director urges his aging parents who want to see him get married before they die, to look at their death as a beautiful event. To convince them in a way they understand best, he employs a beautiful aspiring actress who plays the escort of death in what he calls a reality show kind of a play which takes place in his house; with his life.

1. Joke - 28th July - 6 & 9 PM

The childhood tooth fairy slowly fades away and before we know it religious idols have taken her place. In the times of communal war Sandeep Joshi a writer decides to become an atheist - bid good bye to the gods who have occupied his mindscape and bring back 'Pari' the fairy who represents the innocence of his childhood. The question is, in doing so does he become a joke?

A billionaire family stays together in crisis, loosing money is one thing but when the family head looses mind then the drama of life is unprecedented.

1. Thumri Gazal Kavita - The Confluence - 30th July - 12 Noon

PANDIT AJAY POHANKAR, ABHIJEET POHANKAR AND MAKARAND DESHPANDE

1. Sir Sir Sarla - 30th July - 5 & 8 PM

'LOVE' the only subject that has no curriculum. An unfelt, untold story of a professor and his students after they have graduated - a play between memory and reality begins. Sarla's memory manifests itself into reality. Phanidhar and Sir are caught in a tornado of emotions.

After 15 years on public demand the play was revived with a new cast - Makarand Deshpande as Sir, Sanjay Dadhich - Phanidhar and Aahana Kumra - Sarla.
