Change is the keyword to Frank Wedekind's drama, and every time we read it or work on it, there are always new layers to decipher. And, of course Duncan Sheik's and Steven Sater's intense and provocative musical (based on the drama) is just the same.
From November 2009, the musical is presented at a new location, with new actors and new settlement. Spring Awakening is about the problematique of growing up: how young adults deal with their first love, repressed emotions, prudery and sexuality. Sheik and Sater's songs reflect the problems of the adolescence: the volatile youth, the violent loves of the juvenile, and their rebellious, uncompromising relationship with the adult world. The story of Melchior, Moritz and Wendla is a very actual one.
The new show, directed by Somogyi Szilárd, is aimed to apply the drama to the modern world, and discuss the problems in interaction with the audience. The Budapest Broadway Studio students also learned a lot about themselves during the rehearsals as the work affected them, and they hope that the audience will also think about many things, after watching this new show.
Ages: This show is recommended for 14 years or older !
