Houston's oldest opera company, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston, has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships and grants to students and young artists over the years. The 2022 Career Grant Competition will feature some of the finest young singers from across the country as they compete for over $5,000 in prizes.Each finalist will perform two pieces for the judges; first a piece from a Gilbert & Sullivan opera, then a judges' choice from either opera or musical theater. The Audience Favorite award will be awarded based on the votes of in-person attendees.The competition will be at 2pm at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 3816 Bellaire Blvd. Admission is free, and a livestream will be available.
