Moore Vision Entertainment is excited to end its 23-24 season with the “One Singular Sensation” A Chorus Line, on stage May 19th through May 28th.
A Chorus Line held the record as the longest running show on Broadway for 15 years and heralds nine Tony® Awards including Best Musical, Best Director and Best Choreographer, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
With music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and the musical book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, “A Chorus Line” won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1976 as well as nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score.
“The reason ‘A Chorus Line’ continues to be a favorite is because it encapsulates a timeless relativity to the human experience, not only for performers but for theatre lovers,” said Monroe Moore, director and choreographer of the production.
With a narrative line following 17 performers during a one-day audition for a chorus line, audiences become engaged with stories about the performers’ childhoods, adolescent years, and their life’s story. The script is based on conversations and stories real performers once shared during a production tryout in 1974. This is the reason all these stories ring so believable true is because they are.
The production features a diverse, nontraditional cast of 26 performers from all areas of Houston. Derrick Gibbs as Zach, Lauren Ariana as Cassie, Israel Alderete as Al, John Bellard as Bobby, Brandon McClaston as Don, Drahnier Schmidt as Greg, Nelson Perez as Mark, Omar Corraballo as Mike, Jacob Bautista as Paul, Samuel Jones as Richie, Alyssa Peyton as Bebe, Melissa Ragsdale as Connie, Ivanna Martinez as Diana, Lauren Herink as Judy, Macy Keen as Kristine, Heather Hall as Maggie, Ambi Anuh-Ndumu as Shelia, Lauren Mulacek as Val, Korin East as Larry, Tikisha Santiago as Lois, Annalis Mays as Tricia, Cullen Ponder as Frank, Mai Delores as Vickie, Carver Mathis as Tom, April Hernandez as Swing.
