On April 10, 2018, 250 guests will fill the Junior League of Houston with enthusiasm as they raise funds for Young Audiences of Houston, an organization that has been at the forefront of arts education in Houston for 62 years. YAH pursues equitable access to the arts for all students through systems change efforts, by sharing expertise, and by supporting programs and resources to the communities most in need across the greater Houston region.
The gala, "A Kaleidoscope of Cultures", will be hosted by Honorary Chairs Janet and Harvin Moore and Co-Chairs Judy Y. Liu and Christa and Kevin O'Hara. KHOU's Shern-Min Chow will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.
Featured performing groups include Anjali Dance Theatre, Brazilian Arts Foundation, Dance of Asian America, Houston Flamenco Collective, and Kucheza Ngoma Dance Company, bringing Houston's vibrant tapestry of cultures into the Junior League of Houston. Each year Young Audiences of Houston recognizes leaders and schools that exemplify the mission of Young Audiences through a comprehensive approach to education that includes and prioritizes the arts. Young Audiences will present the 2018 Arts Empowerment Award to the Mandarin Immersion Magnet School and Yellowstone Academy, recognizing the schools' vital commitment to arts and culture. Rounding out the evening will be a giving tree, a wine and spirit pull, and silent auction led by Auction Chairs Katy Cartland and Sanvita Sample.
