Stages' favorite girl group returns in a seasonal sequel. The Wonderettes (original cast) are back in this all-new holiday musical, WINTER WONDERETTES, written and created by Roger Bean.
It's holiday time in 1968 and Betty Jean has organized the holiday party at Harper's Hardware. She's hired the hottest group in town to entertain—The Marvelous Wonderettes. All the seasonal classic like “Santa Baby,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” and “Winter Wonderland” are here with that girl-group spin—a great way to celebrate the season with Stages’ beloved singing sweethearts.
Winter Wonderettes opened at Stages in November of 2011, and became an audience favorite and box office success. premiered on November 7, 2003 at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and ran until November 2005. Last year, Stages Repertory Theatre produced the record-breaking box office hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes, which premiered July 14, 2010 and ran through March 13, 2011.
Directed by Melissa Rain Anderson (Winter Wonderettes, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Five Course Love) with music director Jack Beetle, the show stars Rachel Logue (Steel Magnolias, Winter Wonderettes, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Yankee Tavern, Grey Gardens), Chelsea Ryan McCurdy (Winter Wonderettes, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Panto Cinderella, Panto Sleeping Beauty), Holland Vavra Peters (Steel Magnolias, Winter Wonderettes, The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Andrews Brothers, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, The Spitfire Grill) and Christina Stroup (Winter Wonderettes, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Panto Sleeping Beauty).
The production features as Conductor and on Keyboard Daniel Campbell & The Wonderettes Band, with Set & Properties Design by Jodi Bobrovsky, Sound Design by Yezminne Zepeda, Costume Design by Tiffani Fuller, Lighting Design by Kevin Holden and Stage Manager Sara Brossman.
The show runs in previews tonight, November 7, Thursday, November 8, 2012, with an opening slated for Friday, November 9, 2012. Winter Wonderettes closes on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 3:00pm. The regular run plays Wednesdays and Thursdays: 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays: 8:00 p.m.; and Sundays: 3:00 p.m.
