Obsidian Art Space is proud to present the Regional Premiere of Monica Byrne's drama What Every Girl Should Know. The production begins March 5 and runs Thursdays*, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM through March 28, 2015.

In 1914, four young women in a New York reformatory adopt birth control activist Margaret Sanger as their secret patron saint. They build a communal fantasy life where they travel the world, take lovers at will, and assassinate their enemies -- but this fantasy can only last so long...

The play's title comes from an article written by Margaret Sanger, the noted women's rights icon and birth control advocate. What Every Girl Should Know is an important and timely new work: it is a playful, yet challenging story of four young women banding together under dire circumstances.

Director Tom Stell, the director of the critically acclaimed Houston premiere of Ruined by Lynn Nottage in 2014, is excited to produce another female playwright's compelling drama. "What drew me to this play is the affection and camaraderie the characters share with each other. Together they take on a harsh world," says Stell. What Every Girl Will Know will feature an all-female cast of local talents.
