Class in session at TUTS' Humphreys
School of Musical Theatre (HSMT), 2015.
TUTS sustained some water damage
during Hurricane Harvey, but the HSMT
Fall semester will begin Monday,
September 18 as previously scheduled.

Theatre Under The Stars has released an update following Hurricane Harvey. TUTS will resume regular business operations on Tuesday, September 5th, and Fall Semester Classes for the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre will start Monday, September 18 as previously scheduled.

Read the update in full below:

"As our thoughts continue to remain with all Texans affected by the storm, we here at Theatre Under The Stars are actively engaged in deploying business continuity plans, and will resume regular business operations on Tuesday, September 5th.

"With recovery having just begun across our community, we understand this is an on-going process and the full extent of the storm's impact may not be known for some time. That said, we are relieved to report everyone within the immediate TUTS Staff family is safely accounted for; though some have experienced a disruption to their lives due to flooding.

"By all accounts, the Hobby Center buildings fared fairly well in relation to our arts partners in the Theater District. After further assessment, we can share we did sustain some water damage in Zilkha Hall, but not Sarofim Hall. There at one point was flooding on the first floor of the parking garage; water has since subsided. The River facility (located at 1475 West Gray Street) did not experience water breach other than a few minor roof leaks.

"In the coming days and weeks, we will provide consistent updates with information as it becomes available related to productions and events scheduled during the month of September. Stay tuned to TUTS.com, and our social media pages for news, updates, and more. Fall Semester Classes will kick-off for TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre on Monday, September 18, and for The River Performing & Visual Arts Center on Saturday, September 23 as previously scheduled.

"We have felt the love far and wide from TUTS friends across the country, and want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support. We would also like to recognize our partners at the City of Houston, Hobby Center, Houston First, Theater District Houston, and all of the member organizations in the Theatre District for their tireless efforts over the last several days.

"To further help Houstonians who have suffered from flooding, we encourage you to support Mayor Sylvester Turner's relief fund at ghcf.org/hurricane-relief.

"As we end our 48th Season, please consider making a donation to Theatre Under The Stars in order for us to maintain operations during this difficult time. To donate, go to: www.tuts.com/donate."
