In TLH's tradition of staging Brad Fraser and Neil LaBute works comes the 2010 Oliver Award Winner for Outstanding Achievement - Michael Bartlett's comedy/drama Cock. Premiering in 2009 at London's Royal Court Theatre the production received outstanding reviews and several extensions. The US premiere in May 2012 in NYC also received acclaimed and played to sold-out audiences and several extensions.
Two men, one woman - one relationship will end, another will start and so begins a match of sexual power between two of these - and both are prepared to fight to the end. In scenes that shift from biting funny to wrenchingly dramatic the play takes a candid look at one man's sexuality and the difficulties that arise when you realize you have a choice.
When John and his boyfriend take a break, the last thing he expects is to suddenly meet the woman of his dreams. He loves his boyfriend, now he loves his girlfriend too.
What's a fellow to do when he loves both and both love him back? Trapped between two lovers, John must make a choice as he navigates his sexuality (is he Gay? Bi-sexual?), selfhood, and the intersection of the two. Let the Cockfight begin.
The play has four characters - three males known as M, F and John and one female simply known as W.
