Following Houston's 2nd Annual Mural Festival, The Landing Theatre Company opens their first full production of the 2016-17 season with Idris Goodwin and Kevin Coval's This is Modern Art, originally commissioned by Steppenwolf Theatre and work shopped at The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

Based on true events, the "Look Over Here" (LOH) graffiti crew is willing to risk anything for their art. Called vandals, criminals, even creative terrorists, these Chicago graffiti artists set out night after night to make their voices heard and alter the way people view the world. But when the crew finishes the biggest graffiti bomb of their careers, the consequences get serious and spark a public debate asking, "Where does art belong?

Stephen M. Miranda, Interim General Manager of The Landing Theatre Company, directs. The cast features Anthony August, Estee Burks, Zac Kelty, Katherine Rinaldi, Dustin Salinas, and Giovanni Sandoval. Production features scenic design by Kevin Holden; costume design by Bridget Elizabeth Paliwoda; lighting design by Joe Engler; and sound design by 'Cha Nwabara.

The theatre company is to continue its Talkback Thursdays tradition. Talkback Thursdays are post-show discussions that give audience members a chance to meet and interact with the artists and discuss the production. Talkback Thursdays for THIS IS ART are on October 27, November 3, and November 17.

THIS IS ART starts previews October 27, opens October 30, and continues through November 19 at The Landing Theatre, 1119 Providence Street. For more information, please visit: landingtheatre.org. Pay-what-you-can ($25 suggested).
