BWW: TUTS' GOLDEN TICKET: A THEATRE-LOVER'S DREAM!
Someone in Houston is going to be yelling, "I've got a golden ticket!" and it won't be Charlie Bucket. Who cares about chocolate when a whole season of top-notch theatre tickets are being given away? TUTS is trail-blazing by giving one lucky winner the ultimate theatre experience:
*Two tickets to each show on their 2014-2015 TUTS and TUTS Underground season.
*Two VIP tickets to the Tommy Tune Awards in April 2015.
*A personal backstage tour of the Hobby Center.
*A parking pass for each one of the TUTS and TUTS Underground performances at the Hobby Center.
*Invitations to special parties and unique events.
TUTS 2014-2015 season is a theatre-lover's dream: The Music Man, the 2013 Tony-award winning Kinky Boots, and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella are just a few of the theatrical stunners that are coming up.
Why is TUTS offering such an amazing and valuable experience?
"We wanted to open Houston's eyes to the fact that we do more than shows," Christian Brown, the assistant director of marketing at TUTS said. "The Golden Ticket offers more than free shows- it's a packaged initiative to show what we do with the community."
TUTS is impressive in offering up many programs that directly enrich countless people in Houston. It was the first theatre company in Houston to perform free to the public when it was founded in the 1960's at the beloved Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park. It is the only Houston arts organization that has performed there free to the public every year since the theatre opened. And their educational programs reach more than 21,000 students annually. The Humphrey's School of Musical Theatre offers technique-based classes for all ability levels and ages. TUTS merged with The River Performing Arts and Visual Arts Center to provide arts education for children with educational challenges. TUTS also provides off-site programs for children in schools, hospitals, and other community-based programs.
And if that isn't impressive enough, TUTS presents the Tommy Tune Awards every year, honoring the best work in Houston's high school musical theatre programs. Local theatre director and esteemed theatre teacher at Houston Christian High School Bobby Linhart has seen firsthand the impact that the TTAs have on high school students. "I love the Tommy Tune Awards and what they stand for," Linhart says. "I think the most important aspect of the TTA's is that they do amazing work providing college scholarships for theatre students that are in need. It really is an amazing program."
TUTS is clearly a lot more than meets the eye. Who will be the lucky winner to see it all firsthand?
