Stageworks Theatre presents its final show of the 2016-2017 season, THE WIZARD OF OZ,by L. Frank Baum, music and lyrics Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg. Directed by Adam Delka the show will run July 28 - August 13, 2017 at The Berry Center.

Dorothy, feeling desperately misunderstood by everyone and threatened by a "witchy" neighbor, tries to solve her problems by running away. Instead, she's swept away by a tornado to a scary yet wonderful place where, accompanied by three trusted friends, she discovers that there's no place like home.

This beloved musical follows the story you remember from the 1939 film starring Judy Garland but with the excitement one can only experience through live theatre. Don't miss your chance to see it come alive on stage at the wonderful Berry Center in Cypress!

"This show has very special meaning to me. Having been raised in rural Nebraska, myself, I grew up just a few miles from the Kansas border, and experienced the yearning to see new places and the desire to escape the small town," said Delka. "As I approach directing this American fairytale, I intend to paint some of the characters as you traditionally recognize them, and others with a new splash of modern color. It will be a visual spectacle and a wonderful experience for the whole family."

Lead actors include Morgan Montgomery (Dorothy), Justin White (Scarecrow), Josef Anderson (Tinman), David Allen III (Lion), "Fosse" the dog (Toto), Amanda Hart Bassett (Wicked Witch of the West), J Blanchard (The Wizard of Oz), Celeste Hendrickson (Glinda), Shannon Murray (Auntie Em), and Jeff Stallings (Uncle Henry/The Guard).

Behind the scenes, the production team includes, Adam Delka (director), Chelsea Lerner (music director), Dru Wiser (choreographer), Michael Montgomery (artistic director), Lisa Garza (scenic design), Julie Montgomery and Barbara Terry (costume design), Jennifer Stewart (makeup and styling), David Dean (sound design), Ron Putterman (lighting design), and Chris Gibson (production manager).
