Roger Bean, mastermind behind the award-winning Wonderettes series, created the first Wonderettes production for Milwaukee Repertory Theatre in 1999. Since its debut, the Wonderettes series has won several awards and been produced throughout the U.S. As Bean began to gain national recognition for his original work, he was inspired to pen additional installments for the Wonderettes series, including this latest, Dream On. He chose Stages from theatres nationwide for this premiere because of his successful past collaborations with the artistic leadership of Stages, which stands as a significant endorsement of the company's high standards and consistent quality of work. Bean is on hand during the rehearsal and preview process to help shape the work in conjunction with Director Melissa Rain Anderson and Musical Director Kevin David Thomas.

Based out of New York City, Melissa Rain Anderson is the guest director for Stages' latest Wonderettes production. Anderson leads the all-star cast, which includes Houston and Stages' favorites Rachael Logue, Chelsea Ryan McCurdy, Christina Stroup, and Holland Varva. Each of these talented actors starred in Stages' original production of The Marvelous Wonderettes in 2010 and has appeared in all subsequent Wonderettes productions at Stages.

It's 1969, and everyone is gathered in the Springfield High School Gymnasium, where the Wonderettes are throwing a fabulous retirement party for their beloved homeroom teacher. But as the decade passes, one Wonderette must choose between her lifelong friends and the allure of fame. Featuring your favorite songs from the '60s and '70s, The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On includes hits such as Build Me Up, Buttercup, Gimme Some Lovin', I Will Survive, The Hustle, I Can See Clearly Now, We Are Family and more!
