The Texas Rep Theatre Co., Houston's Uptown Classic Theatre, celebrates its 10th anniversary season opening on August 29th, with a revival of Larry Shue's comic masterpiece The Foreigner. Chosen by audiences as one of The Texas Repertory Theatre's "greatest hits", The Foreigner will preview on August 28th, open on August 29th, and run 4 performances a week through September 21st.
This award-winning comedy classic bowled audiences over in our 2010 season, and is based on a devilishly clever idea which demonstrates what can happen when a group of devious characters must deal with a stranger who (they think) knows no English! The fact that he does fuels the non-stop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go ridiculously awry for the "bad guys" and the "good guys" emerge triumphant! A constant invitation to relax and laugh at the foolishness of life, The Foreigner has truly become one of America's favorite comedies!
The Texas Repertory Theatre production of The Foreigner features Texas Rep company members Jeff Lane, Lauren Dolk, David Walker, Rachel Mattox and Alan Hall as well as David Harlan and Danny Dyer making their Texas Rep debut under the direction of Walter Baker, who also directed the 2010 production. Performing in its 10th anniversary season, The Texas Repertory Theatre Co. has become one of Houston's premiere theatrical venues, and continues to offer year-round seasons of plays and musicals to the deserving audiences of NW Houston.
