The Country Playhouse will present The Dixie Swim Club by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Julie Wooten, on its Cerwinske main stage for three weekends only, March 8 - 23. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on March 17 at 2:00 p.m., plus a weeknight show on Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m.

Five women keep their college friendship afloat by getting together every year at a North Carolina beach house for a weekend of vacationing and letting their hair down. Over the course of 33 years, their lives take very different trajectories, not to mention the changes in hair and fashion. Sheree still tries to supervise her friends' lives. Lexie constantly remakes herself through divorce and plastic surgery. Dinah is a strong-willed attorney who can never find time for a man. Jeri Neal became a nun after college. And scatterbrained Vernadette has struggled through bizarre family mishaps, suffering from a new injury at every reunion. With warmth and witty repartee, the friends help each other pull through with their good nature intact, their core values solid and sincere.

Directed by Rachel Mattox, the cast includes Nora Hahn, Mary Westbrook, Jan Potts, Agatha Raleigh, and Susan Bray.

The playwrights, now known collectively as Jones Hope Wooten, specialize in comedies of Southern life, in such plays as Dearly Beloved, Christmas Belles, The Red Velvet Cake War, and Rex's Exes. They're among the most popular and widely-produced theatre writers in the country, with well over 15,000 performances here and worldwide. Julie Wooten was also a writer on the beloved television series "The Golden Girls," known for its outstanding scripts.

Ticket prices are $22 for adults, and $19 for students and seniors. Groups of 20 or more receive a $5.00 discount off the adult price. Call the box office at 713-467-4497 for reservations, or make them online at www.countryplayhouse.org (at no additional charge).

The Country Playhouse is located at 12802 Queensbury, Houston 77024 (across from CityCentre), just two blocks east of the Sam Houston Tollway.
