Bayou City Concert Musicals' Monday night (February 11) performance of its cabaret production, Jerome Kern in Hollywood, was cancelled because the show's musical director/accompanist Heather Tipsword was among the thousands of people stranded abroad the crippled Carnival cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico.

Because BCCM did not learn of her fate until shortly before the performance was scheduled to begin, the audience had already gathered for the performance. BCCM Artistic Director Paul Hope turned the evening into a party by entertaining the full house crowd with theatre stories until BCCM officials could reschedule the Jerome Kern in Hollywood performance and annouced it to those in attendance.

An additional performance of Jerome Kern in Hollywood will be presented on Monday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performance Centre of the Ensemble Theatre, 3535 Main between Holman and Berry Street, in the heart of Midtown. (Entrance to The Centre is located on the corner of Fannin and Berry directly behind the theatre and has convenient free parking, courtesy of the Houston Community College.)

The February 18 performance of Jerome Kern in Hollywood will go on as scheduled.

All tickets and/or reservations for the cancelled February 11 show will be honored at the February 25 performance. Those who have tickets who cannot attend the February 25 performance should contact BCCM at 713-465-6484 or via email at bayoucitymusicals@comcast.net to either reschedule to the February 18 performance or to receive a refund.

BCCM's cabaret evening features Kern's music from the time he moved to Hollywood in 1935 to his death in 1945, including The Way You Look Tonight, All The Things You Are, A Fine Romance, Lovely to Look At, Long Ago and Far Away, and The Last Time I Saw Paris sung by Houston's most talented musical theatre performers.

Tickets for both remaining performances of Jerome Kern in Hollywood are $25.00 and are available by calling 713-465-6484 or on line at bayoucityconcertmusicals.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, but reservations are recommended.
