Straight from collaborating on Disney's Lion King,
Elton John and
Tim Rice went on to their next success, AIDA. Adapted from the immortal opera of the same name by Verdi, AIDA tells a tale of forbidden love in a time of war, transporting audiences back to the Land of the Pharoahs where an Egyptian Captain falls for an enslaved Nubian princess.
Like The Lion King score,
Elton John composed AIDA in a variety of styles, rock ballads to reggae, all paired with
Tim Rice's incisive lyrics. This ancient tragedy is infused with an eclectic, contemporary score. Winner of a Grammy and four Tony Awards during its original Broadway run, AIDA now comes to Barnevelder Arts Complex as Bayou City Theatrics recreates all its passion and power anew.
