Be prepared to get swept up in the chilling story about two men who brave the elements and risk their lives climbing the world's second highest mountain in the Himalayas. Opening Thursday, February 4th at 7:30 p.m., this black box production is rife with conflict and difficult choices in the face of imminent danger.
Written by Patrick Meyers, K2 follows the story of Taylor and Harold, who scale the second highest mountain at 27,000 feet in the Himalayas. During the dangerous descent, they lose one of their ropes and Harold breaks his leg, resulting in life-altering decisions that must be made.
Directed by Stuart Purdy and starring L. Robert Westeen and Trevor B. Cone, the Queensbury Theatre production consulted with professionals - training with ropes course experts and experienced climbers at Houston's Texas Rock Gym.
"Not only is the authenticity of the play at hand, but more importantly, the safety of our actors," said director Stuart Purdy. "The team has built an elaborate mountain set, and one wrong move could injure one of our guys. We had to be sure they were comfortable understanding all the different knots and correct positions while climbing. It's live theater at its best."
The production is scheduled to run through February 21st, Thursdays - Sundays. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.queensburytheatre.org or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/queensbury.
