The Queensbury Theatre is proud to announce the creation of the new Tribble School for the Performing Arts, opening Late Spring of 2015. Underwritten by long-time arts supporters and Houston philanthropists Jay and Charlotte Tribble, the school's primary mission is to foster a deeper connection with the community and make performing arts education more readily available for Houston area students of all ages.

Kristina Sullivan has been hired as the Director of Education, working under Executive Director Randal West's leadership. Sullivan has spent the past 15 years in the Houston theatre arts community as an actor, teacher, director and writer. Her work for the past three years with The Music Box Theater as well as being the founder and Executive Artistic Director of the Music Box Young Artists has garnered her a reputation for the passion of theatre education and the arts. Some of her students have appeared (and continue to appear) on Broadway. Sullivan received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Houston, where she studied voice and acting at The Moores School of Music. "Having worked in theatre for so many years, I know how important the finished product is. However, when it comes to teaching students, I believe that the process just as important as the final production. It's in the process that students are able to experiment and grow. A production is a success only when every single student can say they found something that will make a lasting difference to their unique artistic identity," Sullivan said.

"Not only is Kristina an outstanding artist in her own right, but an outstanding educator who has a talent to teach and inspire. Her presence assures that Queensbury's Tribble School for the Performing Arts will continue her exceptional record of training young talent in the theater arts," Jay Tribble said.

Sullivan worked as the Tribble School Administrator at the Masquerade Theatre where she performed in over 50 musicals at the Hobby Center. Some of her acting credits include Next to Normal (Diana), My Fair Lady (Eliza), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), Sunday in the Park with George (Dot/Marie), Parade (Lucille), Jane Eyre (Jane), Camelot (Guinevere), Sweeney Todd (Johanna), Children of Eden (Eve), Jekyll & Hyde (Lucy), and The Man of La Mancha (Aldonza). Her favorite directing credits include Assassins, Into the Woods, Urinetown, Rent, The Last Five Years, Jekyll & Hyde, Oklahoma, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables, Annie, Once on this Island, Parade, Little Women, Children of Eden, Pajama Game, Peter Pan, Sweeney Todd, and Once Upon a Mattress.

In addition to her on-stage work, Sullivan has crafted curriculum and taught workshops including Build-a-Cabaret, The Basics of Auditioning, Acting, and Vocal Studio- Performing and Recording all Vocal Genres. She has also been recognized as a Best Actress Nominee (Houston Press/2012); as a company member involved in Best Musicals (Houston Press- Sweeney Todd/2007; Company 2009), and Best Theater Company (Houston Press- Masquerade Theatre/2009).

Sullivan is quite eager to begin this new venture with Queensbury Theatre, "I couldn't be more excited about the Queensbury Theatre. There is so much potential and promise. It will be a new, beautiful facility situated in the middle of a thriving community with a Board, Executive Direction and a staff that are committed to best quality productions and education. Theatre connects people. Whether you are a performer or in the audience, there is something about the experience of sharing a story that creates cohesion and openness. In this way, I think that both the Queensbury Theatre and The Tribble School for the Performing Arts will be a connective element in its community and one that can really make a positive difference."
