On Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 8 p.m., The Grand 1894 Opera House presents ON GOLDEN POND, performed by the Montana Repertory Theatre.
Both lighthearted and deeply moving, playwright Ernest Thompson's ON GOLDEN POND is the story of a retired professor and his wife whose annual trip to the solitude of their summer vacation home is interrupted when their adult daughter Chelsea arrives with her fiancé and his teenage son, Billy. After leaving Billy behind to bond with her father, Chelsea returns, attempting to repair the long-strained relationship with her aging dad before it's too late. Something deep and profound resonates through the events that unfold in this American masterpiece.
This performance is sponsored in part by the William J. and Merri S. Edwards Charitable Gift Fund and supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Grand 1894 Opera House is located in Galveston's historic downtown Cultural Arts District, and is recognized as "The Official Opera House of the State of Texas."
