On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, Northwestern Mutual-Houston partnered with Starlight Children's Foundation to create an unforgettable and touching evening of theatre-a true Great Escape-for a group of children battling pediatric cancer. In an effort to make special memories outside of the hospital room, the children's families were with them.

During intermission, Northwestern Mutual-Houston and Starlight Children's Foundation's Great Escape event featured a reception in The Hobby Center for Performing Arts' Founders' Club. At the reception, guests enjoyed coffee and scrumptious deserts, highlights being crème brûlée and s'mores inspired tarts, made by the talent kitchen staff at the Artista, a Cordúa restaurant.

Yet, it was after the show that the magic took a sentimental and awe-inspiring flight. Cathy Rigby, Tony Award nominee and star of PETER PAN, did a very special VIP meet and greet with the children and their families in costume. She signed posters for the children with inspirational messages, took photos with them as a group and individually when requested. She personally gave each child fairy dust and made every one present into believers in magic and the kindness that inhabits the human heart.

Starlight Great Escapes' mission is to give families with seriously ill children, such as childhood cancer, opportunities to escape the confines of the hospital and the stresses of their medical worries. After a Great Escape, they wish that both the child and family return home with a renewed sense of strength, hope, and community. The program was specially designed to give families the ability to spend recreational time together, relax away from the hospital, and make lasting and special memories together.

For more than 50 years, Northwestern Mutual's Houston office has been helping their local policyowners and clients achieve financial security. Through a needs-based planning process, the network office helps local clients determine their financial security needs and then address those needs using a wide range of products and services.

The current national tour of PETER PAN starring Cathy Rigby will continue to run at Sarofim Hall at The Hobby Center through December 23, 2012. Don't miss this special opportunity to see Cathy Rigby soar across the stage. For more information and tickets, please visit http://www.tuts.com/ or call (713) 558 - 8887.
