Theater LaB Houston concludes its 22nd season of Houston Premieres for the 2014/2015 season, with a brand new musical of an Off Broadway hit. Vanities, the Musical adapted by Jack Heifner and based on his hilarious long-running Off Broadway smash, with music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the cast!
Vanities, the Musical chronicles the journey of three vivacious Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives, liberated women and beyond. This musical captures a snapshot-sharp portrait of the lives, loves, disappointments and dreams of these young women growing up during the turbulent '60s and '70s and reconnecting in the late 1980s. With a tunefully evocative score by David Kirshenbaum (Summer of '42) and Jack Heifner's hilarious adaptation of his long-running off-Broadway smash, Vanities, a New Musical is a funny and poignant look at three best friends who discover that, through thirty years of rapidly changing times, the one thing they can rely on is each other.
The cast includes Danica Johnston, Robin Van Zandt and Shelby Bray. Direction and Choreography by Jimmy Phillips with Musical Direction by Steven Jones.
The production runs Wednesday, April 8th through Sunday, May 3rd 2015, with one preview tonight, April 7th at 8 p.m. Theater LaB Houston performances are performed at Obsidian Art Space, 3522 White Oak, Houston, Texas 77007.
