Photo Flash: Iconotheatrix' Production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE Brings Fun and Laughs to the Stage

Iconotheatrix presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee April 6-15, 2017 at The MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theatre Center Houston). An eclectic group of mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box. A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a fast-paced, crowd-pleasing, delightful den of comedic genius.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be presented in mid-town Houston! The show will be held at the gorgeous, new performance facility, The MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theatre Center of Houston), located in the heart of midtown at 3400 Main. Spelling Bee will run for 2 weeks only: April 6-25, 2017. Tickets range from $17 for students to $27 for adults. Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.

Iconotheatrix, a youth theatre company, has double cast several of the roles. The cast includes Elissa Brown and April Palm as Olive Ostrovsky, Joseph Concha as William Barfee, Abby Holmes and Courtlin Parisher as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, Justin Vrana as Chip Tolentino, Cassidy D'Agostino and Daniela Garrett as Marcy Park, Raul Alberto and Alex Kerry as Leaf Coneybear, Aura Reza and Lyndsea Woodall as Rona Lisa Peretti, Rachel Portalatin as Vice Principal Panch, Karson Davis as Mitch Mahoney, and Emily Peterson in the ensemble. The show features dynamic direction and choreography by Eboni Bell and bright musical direction by Heather Buzonas.

Iconotheatrix was co-founded in 2014 by David Allen III, Eboni Bell, Kristen Delbosque, and Logan Vaden and held their inaugural cabaret, Iconotheatrix: A Prologue, in December of 2014. This was quickly followed by their highly successful production of RENT. Iconotheatrix was founded on the idea that hard work, discipline, creativity, and teamwork are important tools for every young actor to develop. Iconotheatrix' mission statement says, "We believe that young minds will deliver what they feel is expected. We want to create an environment where children feel safe and free to express themselves and to be who they are. We plan to bring classes, workshops, and innovative, challenging shows to the community. We believe that consistency is important and we plan to maintain a steady pace of work for you and your families to be a part of. Above all else the honesty of the works performed is most important because then it is true art. We are willing to break from tradition to do new and exciting things, offering a diverse experience to take into the future. We want to provide a professional environment so, that when our students head into the real world of college and auditions, they are well prepared.
