Pearland Land Idol 2013 Kicks Off 4/17

Pearland Idol is kicking off the 2013 season on Wednesday, April 17, at Stadia Sports Grill. Registration is $5.00 and will get underway at 6:00 p.m., weekly competitions start at 7 p.m. Pearland Idol is open to the public.

Organizers are kicking off Pearland Idol 2013 with a karoke party on Wednesday, April 10, at Stadia Sports Grill in Pearland Town Center. Music starts at 7:00 p.m. and will end at 10:00 p.m.

Pearland Idol 2013 will give singers 11-17 (juniors), and adults 18 and up, a chance at more than $1,000 in cash and prizes. The grand prize winner will be awarded a Mayoral Proclamation honoring them as this year's Pearland Idol.

This is the fourth year for Pearland Idol. The community-wide competition is held to raise money for the Pearland Theatre Guild, a local non-profit arts organization and its permanent home, The Pearl Theater. The fundraiser is sponsored by Stadia Sports Grill and Mega Karaoke.

"Pearland Idol is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We want to make lots of new friends and see some familiar ones. So everyone come out and sing," said Renee van Nifterik, executive artistic director of the Pearland Theatre Guild, who co-founded PTG with her husband, veteran radio disc jockey "Peter V."
