The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, announces its roster of films for September, October, and November, with highlights including the fall season of Movies Houstonians Love, the Houston Turkish Film Festival from September 29 through October 2, and the 2016 Houston Cinema Arts Festival from November 10 through 17.
Other series include films in conjunction with the exhibition Emperors' Treasures: Chinese Art from the National Palace Museum, Taipei, spotlighting legendary filmmaker King Hu, with the digital restoration of two martial arts classics, A Touch of Zen and Dragon Inn. Also screening are four films highlighting documentaries directed by women, including Sonia, directed by Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami, Get in the Way: THE JOURNEY of John Lewis, directed by Kathleen Dowdey, Cameraperson, directed by Kirsten Johnson, and Don't Blink-Robert Frank, directed by Laura Israel.
And don't forget what's on the big screen this month: My Love, Don't Cross That River, a South Korean film painting an intimate portrait of an elderly couple and the romance present in simple gestures and day-to-day routines, screening Friday, August 19, at 7 p.m., and Tuesday, August 23, at 2 p.m.
