"Love, Lust, Lies" tells the story of two college friends, Jay and Jeff, who reunite after having lost contact for over a quarter of a century. Jay, is a retired school teacher from Dallas and he is in an off and on relationship with a younger man. Jeff is married to Audra who he had met back in college. Jeff and Audra reside in Atlanta, but happen to be in Dallas due to Audra's work. Jay invites Jeff over to his apartment for dinner so the two men can reconnect and reminisce about their college days while Audra works, but to his surprise Audra decides to join the two men. To Audra's surprise she recognizes Jay from her college days, since he was her first crush, and is surprised to discover that her husband never mentioned that Jay was his friend. What Audra doesn't know is that Jeff and Jay had a sexual relationship during those years. As the evening progresses and the wine flows, secrets, resentments, and old feelings begin to emerge as they reminisce about their past.

This comedic play is rated R due to adult content and language. There is a brief moment of backside nudity.

The play stars Mark-Brian Sonna as Jay, Richard S. Blake as Jeff, and Suzanne Mobarak as Audra. The play is directed by Mike Hathaway, with a sets & costumes designed by Alejandro de la Costa.

Though the play has some gay themes the play isn't a "gay" play. As the director Mike Hatahway commented: "This is a fantastically fun script that tackles some universal issues, like love, fear of being alone...but, more importantly, those unspoken doubts everyone has when settling down, like, 'Is this person really right for me?' or 'Is there something or someone better?'"

"Alejandro de la Costa likes to be provocative" says Mark-Brian Sonna who is also the Artistic director of MBS Productions. "He uses humor, and at times shocking situations to illustrate the foibles of human nature. All three characters are very decent middle-aged people, but they have a past, and some of it is tawdry. Not all of us like to admit that we may have made some questionable choices in our youth, yet it's those choices that many times affect our present life and relationships, whether we want to admit it or not. I know as a middle-aged man I look at my past and at times secretly say to myself: 'What was I thinking?'"

Mike Hathaway adds, "And it's all centered around the BIG question many people face in their 40's and 50's, the question of 'what if things had been different when I was 20?' Yes, the play definitely has gay themes, but like any good story, everyone can find something to relate to here."

The play is based on actual events. "Curiously enough, many of the events of the past described in the play did happen," says Sonna. "It happened to me." He clarifies: "The reunion that happens in the play is fiction. Which makes this play, for me, so deliciously fun because I'm not sure how I would react if I ran across my 'Jeff and Audra'. Am I like Jay? Sort of. I do share the same past, but the current situation Jay finds himself in, and his present day life isn't mine. So I'm playing a hybrid between myself and a fictitious character."
