KVPAC's Encore Players kicks off their fall 2016 Season with George Reinblatt's Evil Dead, The Musical, a Candian rock musical stage play based on the cult classic film series. Critics have praised the show calling it 'the next Rocky Horror Show'. Directed by Jason Howard, the show opens September 30 and runs through October 1 and 2, 2016.
"Encore Players always tries to offer a little something for everyone in our season selection," explains Gregory Magyar, KVPAC Executive Artistic Director. "We're very excited about this season's productions. They not only provide great entertainment, but offer such artistic diversity."
2017 begins with The 39 Steps by Paul Barlow. It is a hilarious parody of both the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock. The play's concept calls for the melodrama on stage to be performed by only four actors, thus requiring lightning fast quick-changes and multiple characters played simultaneously, inciting humor at every plot twist and turn. The show runs January 20, 21 and 22, 2017.
Eric Overmyer's On the Verge; or, The Geography of Yearning is the third play of the season. It is a delightfully innovative play that offers an escape into a 'time warp' when three lady explorers encounter eight diverse beings on their travels. The aforementioned eight beings are cleverly played by a single actor, who is able to take considerable artistic license with them and promises some over-the-top comedic acting. The show runs February 10, 11 and 12, 2017.
The Gingerbread Lady is Neil Simon's Tony-award winning Broadway play about lost misfits. Simon's characteristic wit and humor are at their brilliant best in this major departure from his previous light-hearted plays. Lady is a genuinely touching story with penetrating performances. The show runs June 2, 3 and 4, 2017.
Don Zolidis' Empowered: How One Girl Scout Nearly Destroyed the World's Economy rounds out the Encore Players season at KVPAC. Zolidis' hysterical homage to Glengarry Glen Ross is the story of one very determined girl scout who turns to the financial sector for advice in order to win the top cookie-selling prize. The show runs July 14, 15 and 16, 2017.
Season Tickets, including all new FLEX Packages, are on-sale now to lock-in the best price and choice seat. Pre-Sale Show Tickets are $15 Adults and $12 Seniors. Tickets increase by $3 at the door.
