KVPAC is seeking a new Fine Arts Pre-K Director. The position is open in the KVPAC PreK Department.
Position Status: Exempt, Full Time, Salary
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Operations Director (EOD)
Directly Manages the Following: Pre-K Instructors
Office Hours: Throughout the Pre-K school Year:M-F 8:30am-3:30pm; throughout the Summer Program schedule: 8:30am-4:30pm weekly or as required by workload and/or as EOD requests. While a regular work schedule is established, flexibility is desired. Some Saturdays and evenings may be required.

Position Summary:
The Pre-K Director (PKD) position is responsible to the Executive Operations Director (EOD) for the direction, coordination and overall management of KVPAC's Preschool Department. The PKD assures high quality programming, taking care to create curriculum and events balanced in artistic and educational content that address pre-k licensing requirements. The PKD is responsible for the hiring and supervision of all teachers and ensuring all state licenses are up to date and all license and code requirements are met and maintained to insure the highest level of excellence in the pre-k program.
The PKD is responsible for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of all approved policies and procedures as they relate to their department. The PKD will design and implement staff communications programs in order to ensure ongoing, positive up and down communications within these programs.
The PKD will identify, plan and implement the objectives set by the EOD, to ensure the pre-k department's effectiveness while meeting budget goals approved by the Board of Directors and monitored by the EOD.

Essential Job Functions:
· Responsible for the daily operation of the academic and summer pre-k programs.
· Provide a vision for program development and change.
· With the EOD's approval, establish and maintain policies and procedures for program operation Post and maintain a working calendar of school day activities.
· Take on Summer Program Coordinator position during summer months.
· Provide support for teaching staff and substitute teach as necessary.
· Remain current on issues and trends in early childhood education and local competition.
· Maintain positive relationships with community preschool programs by attending conferences as deemed appropriate.
· Ensure all state licenses are up to date and all license and code requirements are met and maintained
· Plan and implement school year calendar based on KatyISD holiday schedule
· Field all questions and concerns that arise about the Pre-K at KVPAC from general public, students, parents and staff.
· Manage and maintain all pre-k enrollments, records, class lists and billing status
· Outline expectations for and monitor daily communications with parents.
· Facilitate preparation and implementation of parent teacher conferences twice per school year
· Ensure monthly class newsletters are distributed to parents.
· Oversee and work with staff to continually assess the playground/facility requirements
· Supervise all Pre-K Staff
o Interview, recruit, hire teachers for each class
o Maintain academic pre-k staff records
o Create and distribute weekly staff notes, keeping teaching staff informed of current program information
o Conduct monthly academic pre-k staff meetings
o Evaluate teaching academic pre-k staff annually
o With EOD approval, dismiss or suspend academic pre-k staff as necessary
o Ensure all independent contractors and staff receive Handbooks and understand and meet all KVPAC processes and expectations
o Prepare letters of intent for academic pre-k staff
o Interview and select substitute teachers and develop procedures for substitution
o Establish work schedule for all pre-k staff and communicate effectively to office staff
o Encourage and provide opportunities for team building and staff collaboration
o Write, review, revise and negotiate contracts for summer pre-k instructors
o Increase the self esteem, (team building) of those who work under you
· With Marketing Communications Manager (MCM), implement strategies to recruit and maintain enrollment
· Responsible for accuracy review of and updates for Pre-K Web page content on KVPAC Website to MCM
· Identify resources to support budget responsibilities
· Assist with KVPAC company-wide fundraising initiatives and supervise departmental fundraising programs.
· Supervise program staff's responsibilities, included but not limited to:
o Supplies organization, purchase and usage
o Student records
o Scholastic book program or equivalent
o Annual school pictures
· Supervise implementation of program curriculum
· Maintain visible presence to staff, students and families
· Develop seasonal course calendars with Visual Art Director, Performing Arts Director, Executive Artistic Director (EAD) and EOD
· Develop summer pre-k classes in-line with themes established by MCM, EAD and EOD
· Oversee all summer pre-k classes ensuring excellence
· Assist instructors with curriculum as needed
· Ensure proper pre-k facility organization, maintenance and appearance
· Coordinate and communicate Facility scheduling with the Front Desk Administrative Assistant.
· Monitor departmental budgets monthly and meet annual budgets while not exceeding allotted expenses
· Manage budget for each class as determined by enrollment, approve expenses therein and provide timely reports/receipts to Finance Manager.
· Attend all KVPAC staff meetings and meet with EOD on a regular basis
· Other duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications:
· Undergraduate degree required. Preferred degree in Early Childhood Education, Theatre, Fine Art, Music or related course of study.
· Required minimum one-year previous Pre-K teaching experience. Additionally, preferred minimum one-year experience supervising and leading personnel.
· Proven track record developing and managing a departmental budget.
