Go deep into the jungle with The Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center's (KVPAC) action-packed stage adaptation of the animated Disney movie The Jungle Book, Jr. presented by Junior COMPANY and directed by Elizabeth Mace. The book by Marcy Heisler, loosely based upon the tales of Rudyard Kipling, is a heartwarming celebration of survival and friendship.

This lively neo-swing musical, with music & lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman and Terry Gilkyson, takes place in a tropical jungle where people are conspicuously absent. But one day Bagheera the Panther discovers a baby in the wreck of a boat. Feeling pity on the child, Bagheera takes him to be raised with the wolves. Ten years later, the child has grown into Mowgli. Mowgli discovers that his life is in danger because of the return to the area of Shere Khan the Tiger, whose hatred of humans is such that Mowgli faces certain death if discovered. Bagheera agrees to transport Mowgli to the human village, where he will be safe from Shere Khan. Along the way to the village, Mowgli and Bagheera succumb to adventure and life-threatening situations before making it to the village of humans.

This exciting presentation, performed by KVPAC's talented Junior COMPANY, theatre students ages 8-12, is Elizabeth Mace's fall directorial production. She is currently KVPAC's new Show Choir Director, and most recently performed in KVPAC's Encore Players production of Into The Woods, in which she was also Musical Director.
