Iconotheatrix presents Carrie: The Musical October 20-23, 2016 at The MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theatre Center Houston). In this revamped, contemporary version of the famous (and infamous) 1988 production, Carrie: The Musical follows a young woman, Carrie White (Courtlin Parisher) with telekinetic powers. An outcast at school, where she is bullied viciously for her differences, Carrie is also lost at home, with a fervently religious mother, Margaret White (guest artist, Rachel Landon) whose love traps her in its maw. When PE teacher, Miss Gardner (guest artist Morgan Kaupert), kind classmate Sue Snell (Jackie Cortina), and boyfriend Tommy Ross (Brendan Morrow) reach out to try and help Carrie, it seems that for once, Carrie might have a shot at being accepted. But Chris Hargensen (Cassidy D'Agostino), the class's most vicious bully, and Billy Nolan (Alex Kerry), her not-so-bright boyfriend, have other ideas. Pushed to the brink, Carrie's powers threaten to overwhelm her, and devour everyone around her in flame.

Carrie: The Musical will be presented for the first time ever in the heart of Houston, featuring all age-appropriate casting! The show will be held at the gorgeous new performance facility, The MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theatre Center of Houston), located in the heart of midtown at 3400 Main. Carrie will run for 6 performances only from October 20-23 (including a midnight performance on Saturday night!). Tickets range from $17 for students to $27 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at https://matchouston.org/events/carrie-musical.

With music by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, Carrie is filled with the characters we have grown to love (and hate!).

Iconotheatrix, a youth theatre company, cast the teenage roles with teenagers and the adult roles with guest artists, who are professional, working actors in the Houston area. 17 year old, high school senior, Courtlin Parisher, leads the cast in the title role. Houston audience favorite, Rachel Landon, will take on the role of Margaret White, Carrie's extremely religious mother. Other guest artists include Morgan Kaupert as Miss Gardner, the gym teacher, and Justin White as Mr. Stephens, the English teacher. Rounding out the cast of teenagers is Raul Alberto, Max Bryan, Jackie Cortina, Cassidy D'Agostino, Abby Holmes, Alex Kerry, Brendan Morrow, April Palm, Emily Peterson, Rachel Portalatin, and Justin Vrana.

With direction by Logan Vaden, choreography by Eboni Bell, and musical direction by Chad Fontenot, we know this will be a production of Carrie like no one has ever seen.
