In the spirit of collaboration, cooperation and mutual admiration, Houston's arts and culture community has launched a major awareness campaign themed "Houston Is Inspired" that will have an impact locally, as well as globally, on how arts and culture are perceived in Houston. This initiative marks the first time in Houston's history that the majority of arts and culture organizations and individual artists have rallied together and collaborated on a single project.

Now adopted by the arts and culture community, the "Houston Is Inspired" theme originated from the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau's (GHCVB) national advertising campaign, Houston Is... which positions Houston as a culinary and cultural capital. The arts initiative kicked off at the GHCVB's Travel Rally Day press conference held yesterday at Market Square Park in Downtown Houston. HAA CEO Jonathon Glus, speaking on behalf of the entire arts and culture community stated, "As a community, we are inspired and feel fortunate to live in a city such as Houston that provides inspiration through its diversity, innovation and sophistication with an edge.

"We thank the GHCVB," he continued, "for its elegant representation of Houston's performing and visual arts in its national ad campaign, and as the CVB hands the baton to us, we pass it along to all of Houston to own it and take immense pride in the cultural institutions and artists who inspire us daily."
