About An Iliad
Featuring virtuosic performances and live music from an exciting original composition by Patrick Neil Doyle, An Iliad is a tour-de-force evening based on Homer's epic poem of love, battle, gods and honor exploring humanity's unshakable attraction to violence, destruction and chaos. Has anything really changed since the Trojan War? The war in Troy is over - and the Poet saw it all. Back from the frontlines in an empty theatre, The Poet, who is perhaps Homer himself, spins a tale of unquenchable rage, quarrelsome gods, and grieving widows. An Iliad weaves humanity's unshakable attraction to warfare with the music of the muses, capturing the contradictory conditions of glory and violence with spellbinding modernity. Starring Guy Roberts as the Poet and Jessica Boone and Fanette Ronjat as the Muses, directed by Guy Roberts and Rebecca Greene Udden.
About Prague Shakespeare Company's Trojan War Cycle
Prague Shakespeare Company and Main Street Theater Company in association with Narodni divadlo present:
The Trojan War
a cycle of three plays: An Iliad, Troilus and Cressida and The Trojan Women

THE TROJAN WAR: a cycle of three plays performed in English: the story of the Trojan War, as told in the Iliad, is the foundational epic of Western civilization. For centuries the triumphs and struggles of Helen, Achilles, Hecuba, Odysseus and the heroes and heroines of the Bronze Age have inspired, shocked and warned us of the horrors of war and the consequences of destructive human behavior. This timeless tale, perhaps now more relevant than ever, is told over three unique theatrical experiences:
Part 1 - An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare
Part 2 - Troilus and Cressida by William Shakespeare in a new modern English translation by Lillian Groag, part of Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 36 Play On!
Part 3 - The Trojan Women by Euripides
