The Grand 1894 Opera House presents An Evening with Jeanne Robertson, Friday and Saturday, August 5 and 6, 2016 at 8 pm. Tickets may be purchased at The Grand's Box Office, 2020 Postoffice Street, by calling 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or online at www.thegrand.com.

This is a rescheduled date from the original announcement of The Grand's 2015-2016 Season. Jeanne Robertson has temporarily suspended her concert tour due to a series of health challenges. In December, she broke her femur and in January she suffered a serious heart attack. Not one to be daunted by almost anything, Robertson is expected to make a full recovery and looks forward to being back on stage with her take on "What's so funny about everyday life?" The six-foot-two former Miss North Carolina with an infectious personality and a delightful family-friendly brand of humor shares some of her funniest "life-lesson" anecdotes. It's been suggested that her recent health issues will lead to even more material for her to share! Robertson's witty depiction of everyday situations never fails to have audiences of all ages rolling with laughter.

Following a year of speaking every day as Miss North Carolina, she graduated from Auburn and taught physical education for nine years. In 1976, Robertson began a fulltime career in professional speaking. She has been awarded every top honor and designation in her profession. She was the first woman to receive the Cavett Award of the National Speakers Association and the only female professional speaker to have received Toastmasters International's Golden Gavel Award. She was named Auburn University's Woman Entrepreneur of the Year; honored as North Carolinian of the Year; and was the first former Miss North Carolina named as a Woman of Achievement. The National Speakers Association named her its 2012 Master of Influence.

Robertson has produced eight DVDs and CDs and written three books on humor: Humor: The Magic of Genie, Mayberry Humor Across the USA, and Don't Let the Funny Stuff Get Away. These books are filled with reality- based stories, which illustrate her humor philosophy. Robertson can be heard on SiriusXM Satellite Radio's Family Comedy and Blue Collar Comedy channels. Her YouTube videos "Don't Go to Vegas Without A Baptist," "Don't Bungee Jump Naked" and "Don't Send a Man to the Grocery Store," have garnered more than 18 million hits. These performances are sponsored in part by Chemiplas.
