Amy Ell's new dance company Vault returns to DiverseWorks with a new work that proves how she's taking aerial dance to new levels. Her last work, was described as "gorgeous, lush and introspective," and you should expect even more from the new work ConTornTion accompanied by a reprise of Continuum.

On Thursday evening, Admission is $40 and includes a champagne reception, live music by the Free Radicals and the opportunity to meet and mingle with the dancers. Tickets for all other nights are $20. To purchase tickets, click HERE.

The Idea Fund Deadline: Monday, October 3

Through the Warhol Foundation Initiative, DiverseWorks ArtSpace, Aurora Picture Show, and Project Row Houses have come together to support art at its source by providing direct grants to artists. The Idea Fund recognizes that Texas is home to a vibrant and energetic arts community, and that adventurous ideas deserve adventurous support.

Slinging Ink Deadline: Saturday, October 15

Slinging Ink is a war of words in which you are invited to submit your own writing about a given theme. This round's theme: I was looking for a job and then I found a job and Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

We are looking not only for creative writing, but also short forms like memories, reports, notes, letters, lesson plans, proposals, complaints and confessions. Your resignation letters real or imagined, and your stories of getting fired or quitting. If a topic inspires you to put down a few words, you should please submit them. TIDAL ECONOMICS
October 11, 8pm

Join Houston-based dilettante, estimate revisor, and gadabout, Tex Kerschen, for a reading on TIDAL ECONOMICS concerning the subjects of dog worship, skull worship, work, finance, car crashes, baby-making, and finding the bottom. This event is free to the public

the bull-jean stories: multimedia adaptation
October 20-22, 7:30pm

Q-Roc explores multiple perspectives of womanhood in the co-commissioned adaptation of Sharon Bridgforth's book the bull-jean stories. By weaving filmed stories and documentary interviews with live performance and visual art from Houston artist Lovie Olivia, Dallas-based Q-Roc navigates the world of southern, working class, male-identified lesbians resonating across age, race, location and time. Texas Contemporary Art Fair
October 20-23
Excitement is building as Texas Contemporary announces its list of exhibitors, compelling programming and an expanding list of supporters for its inaugural art fair at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center from October 20 - 23, 2011.

State Fair Market Day
October 22, 12-6pm

Swing by DiverseWorks from 12-6pm on Saturday, October 22 for the State Fair Market Day. Artists participating in the State Fair will be on-site hosting interactive games, serving refreshments, making crafts, peddling goods and even offering a little therapy. Free admission and open to the public
