The Country Playhouse will present a one-night-only concert reading of The Weeping, adapted from the new novel by O'Dell Hutchison, tonight, October 5 starting at 7:00 p.m. with a reception to celebrate the book's paperback release, Mr. Hutchison will have copies of The Weeping available for purchase and signing.

The Weeping is available online through all major book retailers in hardcover, paperback, and eBook formats, with an audiobook available through Audible, iTunes, and Amazon. The story involves a haunted theatre and is targeted for a young adult audience. This event's focus is to honor Mr. Hutchison – as the Country Playhouse box office manager, his is the face that most playgoers first meet when they come to the theater or phone for reservations, so he is our most recognizable link with the public. In addition, he has directed CPH productions of Rent, bare, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Dog Sees God, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, Closer, and The Laramie Project. His second novel, Fingers in the Mist, is being prepared for publication next year.

Marking the launch of a Country Playhouse October festival of horror and mystery productions (Frankenstein and Evil Dead open on October 12), The Weeping is directed by Artistic Director Bonnie Hewett, with a script by John Kaiser, in consultation with CPH Playwright-in-Residence Diana Howie. A member of the Dramatists Guild, Mr. Kaiser has done numerous libretto adaptations, notably of Anouilh's Time Remembered for the Ostrow Musical Theatre Workshop, with work presented at the New York Fringe Festival and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference (Valdez, Alaska), as well as 10X10 and the Festival of Originals at Theatre Southwest. At present, he is developing a musical of "The Monkey's Paw" with composer Daryl Banner.

Admission to The Weeping is free of charge. But seating is limited. Country Playhouse is located at 12802 Queensbury, Houston, Texas (in Town & Country Village, across from City Centre), just two blocks east of the Sam Houston Tollway.
