In the musical comedy "9 to 5," showing at College of the Mainland Community Theatre July 17 to Aug. 10, a frazzled employee, hesitant newcomer and harassed secretary join forces to turn the tables on their boss.
Fed up with the CEO's sexist, egotistical behavior, three women fantasize - and then realize - a plot to take the office by storm. With their boss out of the way at least for now, they seek to transform the office, their way. Tackling office snitches and corporate red tape, they encounter misadventures, unexpected obstacles and their own surprising strength.
Based on the hit 1980 movie, the high-energy musical shines with 20 original songs by Dolly Parton. "It's big, boisterous and fun. Who hasn't daydreamed about how they'd run the office?" said director Rob de los Reyes. With nonstop action and laugh-out-loud songs, the musical shows just how much fun 9 to 5 can be. The play stars Amber Bennett, Katherine Cunningham, Caroline Menefee, Cameron Dunbar, Melanie Bernsen Clinkscales, Kyle Crawford, Bobby Britton, Max Estudillo, Darin Montemayor, Curtis Barber, Eboni Williams, Donna Bane, Tom Carrington and COM students Marion McDaniel and Matt Graves.Videos
