Tracy Lord, of the Philadelphia Lords, is a headstrong and spoiled daughter of the privileged.
Divorced from C.K. Dexter Haven, she is engaged to a successful young snob. When a society weekly sends a handsome reporter and female photographer to cover the wedding arrangements, Tracy's attraction to the reporter and Haven's surprise visit forces her to choose among her past love, her present love, and her new love.
"The Philadelphia Story" by Phillip Barry was originally a smash hit on Broadway; however, most people remember the Oscar-winning film version which starred Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart.
Director Matthew Phillips notes the play is full of great, witty lines. The long-held prejudices of its well-drawn characters are transformed because "Love looks beyond failings".
"The Philadelphia Story" runs May 20 - June 5 with performances at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30pm on Sundays. Tickets are $13-15. Group rates are available. Tickets may be purchased online at www.clearcreekcommunitytheatre.com or by calling the box office at 281-335-5228.
