Clear Creek Community Theatre (CCCT) kicks off its 51st Season on Friday, September 11th, with hilarious and heart-warming show, "Legally Blonde: The Musical". Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the MGM motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon, "Legally Blonde: The Musical" follows the transformation of California valley girl Elle Woods as she follows her boyfriend to Harvard Law School. There she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. With music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach, "Legally Blonde: The Musical" enjoyed a successful Broadway run and continues to entertain audiences world-wide.
Steven Sarp and Hope Diamond are co-directing a cast of 21 actors and two dogs - Doogle, who plays Elle Woods' feisty and faithful companion, "Bruiser" and Ruby, who plays "Rufus".
Co-Director Hope Diamond notes "Legally Blonde" is full of great characters with good messages to share with the audience. Elle Woods is a role model for us all because she is someone who believes in herself. I love Elle for so many reasons, but I think the main thing that draws me to her is how she exudes a positive life. Everyone has successes and failures in life, but failures can be successes too... if you commit yourself entirely to that event and learn from it. Sometimes you can learn more from a failure than a success!"
Co-Director Steve Sarp adds that this is probably the biggest show CCCT has done, outside of Christmas shows, within at least the last 5 years, if not longer. "This show contains both a jump rope sequence and a dance sequence inspired by "Riverdance". While the basic set is simple, because there are so many locations, the set changes become quite complex. There are set changes that have to happen in the middle of songs, so the crew has to be on its toes, too!"
Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), "Legally Blonde: The Musical" runs September 11 - 27 with performances at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30pm on Sundays. Tickets are $13-15. Group rates are available. Tickets may be purchased online at www.clearcreekcommunitytheatre.com or by calling the box office at 281-335-5228.
Clear Creek Community Theatre is located at 18091 Upper Bay Road in Nassau Bay, Texas.
