Brandon Kahn Named General Manager At Alley Theatre ImageManaging Director Dean R. Gladden announced today that Brandon Kahn has been appointed as General Manager of The Alley Theatre. A native Houstonian, Brandon joins the Alley from Williamstown Theatre Festival where he served over six seasons as Resident Production Stage Manager, Associate Line Producer, and most recently as the Producing Manager. Brandon will assume his General Manager duties October 22.

"Brandon brings to Houston, excellent experience in professional theatre at the highest level. He will be a great addition to the staff. In addition, we are thrilled to welcome him back to his hometown," said Managing Director Dean R. Gladden.

"I am thrilled to be returning to my hometown and joining such a nationally recognized theatre as the Alley, where I grew up seeing productions. In this time of artistic transition, there are exciting opportunities to work with the amazing Resident Company and all of the talented staff to usher in this next artistic chapter," said Brandon.

During Brandon's time at Williamstown, three productions have moved to major New York City not-for-profits, including Martyna Majok's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Cost of Living. Before his time at Williamstown, Brandon was a freelance stage manager for ten years in New York and San Diego. During that time, he was on the stage management staff of five Broadway shows (Deaf West's Spring Awakening, The Neil Simon Plays, Mary Stuart, South Pacific, Losing Louie), six Off-Broadway shows (Lincoln Center Theater, Playwrights Horizons, Atlantic Theater Company), and worked on many regional productions at La Jolla Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Huntington Theatre Company, and Bay Street Theatre. Shows of which he has been on the stage management staff have won eight Tony Awards and nominated for eighteen. Brandon received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University. He and his wife Jennifer, Founder of SCENERY Bags, have a one-year-old son Hudson.

He moves into the General Manager role following Ten Eyck Swackhamer's retirement. Ten Eyck has served as Alley Theatre's General Manager since 2005 and most recently oversaw the rebuild of the Neuhaus Theatre after damage from Hurricane Harvey.

ABOUT The Alley Theatre

The Alley Theatre, one of America's leading nonprofit theatres, is a nationally recognized performing arts company led by Interim Artistic Director James Black and Managing Director Dean R. Gladden. The Alley produces up to 16 plays each year in its newly renovated Theatre, ranging from the best current work, to re-invigorated classic plays, to new plays by contemporary writers. The Alley is home to a resident company of actors. In addition, the Alley engages theatre artists of every discipline - actors, designers, composers, playwrights - who work on individual productions throughout each season as visiting artists.

The renovation of the Alley's Hubbard Theatre was completed in October 2015 - and created a new 774-seat state-of-the-art performance venue. Matched with the newly renovated 296-seat Neuhaus Theatre, the Alley offers nearly 500 performances each season. The Company reaches over 200,000 people each year through its performance and education programs. Its audience enrichment programs include pre-show and post-performance talks, events, and workshops for audience members of all ages.
