Young Audiences of Houston is pleased to announce The Boeing Company's support of $55,000 over two years for the Full STEAM Ahead Initiative. The grant is dedicated to underserved students, families, and teachers that have little to no access to the arts in STEM-related fields.

Full STEAM Ahead has created opportunities between regional schools, educators and artists to integrate the arts into STEM subjects. With Boeing's support, regional counties including Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, Walker, Brazoria and Fort Bend will receive services and access to ongoing professional learning and resources. These collective efforts through Full STEAM Ahead align programming, research, communication and delivery to more effectively and efficiently support regional schools and partners to become innovators.

Expanding on phase one, that launched the Full STEAM Ahead Open Educational Resource website, phase two support will provide extension opportunities for regional schools. Each campus will establish a student-led STEAM committee to create projects based on lessons from phase one. Partnering of student STEAM committees with mentors will allow students to create one group project using the arts to test and present their concepts to industry leaders.

"We are honored to partner with Boeing on this project and grateful for their support," said Mary Curry Mettenbrink, executive director for Young Audiences of Houston. "This initiative will provide regional schools and children with access to develop, create, and present their innovative ideas and move them from a fixed to growth mindset. We applaud Boeing for its innovative leadership in education and investments in our community."

The most accessible place for arts, creativity and innovation, which is critical to the future success of Houston children, is most naturally in the school system, says the company in a press statement. Young Audiences of Houston provides the largest network of partnerships and access to arts in education in the region. Each year, Young Audiences of Houston serves more than 230,000 children in the greater Houston region, which includes seven counties across Texas.
